Hello closet. It’s been a while.
Seeing as I’ve been wearing the same fuzzy fleece & “soft” pants for about a million months now, thought I’d up my game & wear something nice for Mother’s Day. Pre-pandemic I loved dressing up. These days, however, comfort takes precedence. I’m sure I’ll up my game at some point but not yet. As I stared at my clothes with NOTHING to wear. I realized I needed to reacquaint myself with my wardrobe & ask myself some questions.
What do I have?
We have grown accustom to pushing aside the same clothes in search of our go-to outfits. To refresh your wardrobe, take everything out of your closet & lay the clothes on your bed. This will allow you to look at these items in a different light. It also helps you see what you have. Like, do you really need so many jeans?
Does it fit?
I have a pair of adorable seersucker pants I love, except for one thing, how they fit. They’re rather snug in the hips. I’ve held on to them assuming one day they’ll be comfortable again. Yet instead of motivating me I only feel guilt. Who needs that in their closet—especially on Mother’s Day?
Close Inspection
I love a good sundress. They’re easy, comfortable & perfect to toss on for a grocery run or night out. My favorite was a sunny orange little number bought years ago. Looking at it closely, I noticed the elastic smocking had lost its snap & the color faded. So in true KonMarie fashion, I decided it was time to bless & release that dream of a dress.
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
The statistics on tossed out clothes are staggering. Fortunately, there are options for repurposing a lot of it. DM me for a comprehensive list of consignments, charities, even rag centers accepting donations.
